How I got started with paint.
I had just turned 60 and my children were all set up on their own. I was still running a business but occasionally I had an hour or so to spare. However my attempts to paint a picture were not to my satisfaction.
Then Rugby College offered a two year diploma course, two days a week and for two years, very reasonably priced. I was very reluctant, but my friend, 10 yrs younger than me, was persistent, signed us both up. Shaking in my shoes at my temerity off I went.
Well it was brilliant we did painting, print making and history of art. It widened my horizons and gave me the confidence to not be afraid “to go wrong”.
I am 102 yrs old now, soon to be 103, but still off to my studio most mornings to put colour and texture on a canvas and myself and all around me to cope with frustration and then finally, maybe, an acceptable picture.
I am not exhibiting anymore because of lockdown, except in my own small gallery, but sell on the internet here in England and in Australia and America and I have a facebook page.
You can contact me via my contact page, I want to keep things simple and personal, so if you'd like to buy a painting, I'd love to hear from you!
